Happy ________ Everyone
Half of the world is celebrating something today, once-in-a-millennium combination the following will all occur on the 21st:
Good Friday
Purim, a Jewish festival celebrating the biblical book of Esther
Narouz, the Persian New Year, which is observed with Islamic elaboration in Iran and all the "stan" countries, as well as by Zoroastrians and Baha'is.
Eid Milad an Nabi, the Birth of the Prophet, which is celebrated by some but not all Sunni Muslims and, though officially beginning on Thursday, is often marked on Friday.
Small Holi, Hindu, an Indian festival of bonfires, to be followed on Saturday by Holi, a kind of Mardi Gras.
Magha Puja, a celebration of the Buddha's first group of followers, marked primarily in Thailand.

Another Birthday...
Sunday was my birthday and I spent the day relaxing and watching movies. I spent Friday thru Tuesday relaxing and doing nothing! It was nice and refreshing.
My friend Ginger came up Saturday after her 5 mile Heart Walk and spent the day with me and didn't leave til Sunday. It was a nice visit since we hadn't seen each other in a long time.
Tuesday it was back to work and we have a few events coming up this week and next so I have been busy.

I hate football..
Actually I don't hate football itself, I hate the reactions of the fanatics in my living room right now screaming and yelling at the tv! The dogs are hiding, I'm in the office with the door shut and they sound like they are on the verge of a stroke.
Usually Rick is kind enough to DVR the game and only watch it if his team wins therefore cutting out the stressfulness of it for everyone, but today his sons are over watching it with him. It sounds like their team is losing.
I start the new job tomorrow, or actually go in for an all day orientation. I start the normal part of the job Tuesday. I called my supervisor Friday to see if I should just go to orientation only or go to my department at anytime during the day. I figured I would just be going to the orientation but I wanted to also see if everything was ok after the bad reference scare on Wednesday.
I never heard back from anyone so I figured it was okay, but you never know!
I had a pretty good birthday weekend, just hung around the house and rested up.
I hope everyone has a great week :)

New Years resolution??
With everyone talking about their resolutions for 2005 it got me to thinking.
It's not that I'm afraid of failure, but I hate to make a promise to myself and not keep it. Last year it was to start going to the gym. I did halfway decent, I went for about 9 months, then work and my sleep schedule got in the way. Rick goes religiously every day.
The year before that it was to save more money. My savings account right now has $2.50 so you can tell where that went!!
The year before that it was to quit smoking. I was still with my ex at the time. I told no one so I wouldn't have to put up with the pity stares if I quit and then started back up. After my head quit spinning "The Exorcist" style and my ex came out of hiding I felt bad about the whole ordeal.
So this year I decided to make a resolution not to make any more resolutions. I will live this year on a day to day basis.
I'll continue to treat others well, eat as healthy as I have been, and try to stay on the right track-but I'm not making any resolutions or promises I can't keep. (This all sounds like a resolution to me, are any of you buying it???!!!)

Happy Holidays
It is still cold with snow on the ground, but not as bad as yesterday-our local paper said there were over 200 reported wrecks. I had to get out in it today to drop some gifts off and buy some wrapping paper.
One of the gifts I dropped off was to my ex. For some reason we are still exchanging gifts. I buy him something for around $10-$15 and he tries to over do it and buys an extravagant gift to show how much better he is doing. This isn't just how I feel, people have told me they have heard him say this.
This year he out did himself even before the gift was dropped off. I called him to let him know I was dropping his gift off at his house on the porch and we exchanged the usual formalities. As I was hanging up he said "Did you hear I bought my nephew a new Range Rover?" I knew his nephew, who I am close to still, was car shopping but he was looking at Chevrolets. Then Paul went on saying that since he didn't have anyone to spend that kind of money on anymore, he bought him one just like the one I got in 2001.
After I hung up, I got a laugh about it. I figured that his dig at me will be a better holiday gift for him than the $15 gift I dropped on his porch.
I finally got all the gifts wrapped, the 2 cheesecake pies and the salsa made. All that is left is the stocking stuffing and watching it all unfold tomorrow! I'm getting excited. I may not have spent the several thousand on gifts that I used to and I drive my Ford instead of the Range Rover, but it is still stacking up to be a Merry Christmas!

I wasn't dreaming of a white Christmas...
As I sit typing this it is 14 degrees and snowing. I still have to get out in this mess due to my procrastination! Tomorrow is supposed to get warmer with a high of 22!
I got all of my presents wrapped except for a couple that I still need boxes for. I'm hoping I'll be able to find one more roll of wrapping paper and some bows-my bows didn't survive storage and look smashed.
I was getting excited about a traditional turkey and dressing dinner and then I find out today that the dinner fare where I'm going is to be tacos. So instead of the cranberry dressing I planned on making I'll make some salsa. Feliz Navidad!
