I finally got my Nintendo GameBoy Advance microsystem in that I won back in January. I can't wait to get a game for it and try it out.

6 weird things/habits about yourself

I saw this on my friend Ginger's
blog and thought I would do it just so everyone can see how nuerotic/weird I am!

1: I am a total neat freak-we are talking toothbrush in the crevices, move the appliances/furniture, organize sock drawer freaky.

2: When I get in a reading mood, I read about 4-5 books a week.

3: I am a incurable procastinator.

4: I will watch any game show-anytime, anywhere.

5: I will not cry in front of anyone-but will bawl like a baby in private.

6: I collect duck figurines, ship models, hand figurines, crosses, toy cars, rocks and fossils. I also have a collection of odds and ends that I won't get rid of due to my sentimental nature.

Now it is all out there in the open, sigh, I feel better!

Weekend Assignment #42: Winter Tales

Weekend Assignment #42: Winter Tales is: Share your favorite story of Winter cold -- preferably (but not necessarily) involving something freezing inconveniently and humorously.

Extra credit: Name a song that reminds you of winter that's not Christmas-themed.

I have the tongue frozen to the metal pole story as well as the left the car window down overnight during a snowstorm happen to me over the years but the funniest/oddest story happened a few days before Christmas.

We had a snow/ice storm about 2 days before Christmas and it got down to about 5 degrees. I called my parents to make sure they didn't need any supplies since I have an SUV and can get out easier than they can in weather like that. My Dad answered and was in a tizzy. My Mom could be heard in the background yelling and panicking. Finally my Dad calmed down enough to relate the story.

My Mom had let their chihuahua (Corky) go out in the backyard to do her business while she started some laundry. No less than 3 minutes later she went to call her in and Corky just stood there in the middle of the yard not moving. After some whistles and yelling my Mom goes to pick her up and to her horror finds that she is frozen to the ground!

I think Corky was more traumatized by my parents reaction than being frozen to the ground!! I had to drive over to their house to calm them down and reassure them that Corky would live to be pampered another day! I realized that Corky has it way better than I ever did living at home!

Whenever I hear "Que Sera Sera" by Doris Day it immediatly reminds me of snow. It was 1998 when my town was having a major blizzard. I was snowed in and watching "The Man Who Knew too Much" on AMC cuddled up on the couch. We were featured on CNN all that day as the town in Texas that had a 250 car pile-up due to the blizzard.

Weekend Assignment #39: Disappointing Toys

Weekend Assignment #39 is:

Tell us about the toy you had to have for the holidays when you were a kid, only to find out it was kinda disappointing once you had it.

Extra Credit: Tell us the most unrealistic holiday gift request you ever made.

When I was 6, I asked and begged and asked some more for roller skates. All my friends had them. The kind I had in my mind were the kind they had (lace up kind with the stopper in the front) and I just assumed my parents would know that.




So Christmas that year rolls around and I open the box, and it is the old fashioned metal kind you adjust over your shoes. I was shocked. I don't remember if I said anything at that moment. I remember using them a few times and putting them on a shelf in the garage.

I was at my parents house a few weeks back helping my Dad clean out the attic and while I was on the ladder I happened to see them. It brought all that back, and I told my Dad about it and we had a good laugh. I thanked him for them because I told him that I didn't think I did back then.

The most unrealistic Holiday gift I ever asked for was when I was 8. My sister had just got her driving permit and they were giving her the old car (a Comet) while they went and got a new one (a Caprice Classic that I ended up with when I turned 16). I remember we were at the Chevy dealership and I spotted a Vega.



When my parents asked me what I wanted for Christmas I showed them clippings from ads that I had saved. I don't remember what I got that year, but I didn't get the Vega!

A friend of mine on AOL sent me a link to a journal to check out. A feature on this journal is a "weekend assignment". A question he posts for all of us to answer. I think it is a great idea. Weekend Assignment #37

Weekend Assignment #37: We all know what our best personal quality is. What's your second-best personal quality?

Extra Credit: Note a personal quality you wish you had more of.

I had never thought of this before so it took me awhile to ponder at it. My second best quality I would have to say is being non-judgemental. I was raised around family members that would joke or kid around about people that were different. From the moment I could understand what they were saying I always felt that it was wrong.

If I see someone who looks different, acts different, dresses different, has an alternate lifestyle, etc. I do not immediatly judge them based on this. I like this quality in myself. I have met many wonderful people over the years from being non-judgemental.

Extra Credit: The quality I wish I had more of is self control/willpower. I have wanted to quit smoking and just can't quite let it go. If there is chocolate around the house I'm going to eat it NOW! If I'm out shopping and I see something that I want but know that I really don't need-80% of the time I will buy it. This is my least favorite quality of myself and I fight it everyday.
