Aloha Waikiki

I finally got the email with the affidavit of eligibility and the details of the prize I won. It is a trip to Waikiki on Oahu. We will be staying at the Sheraton Waikiki! It looks really nice. I have always wanted to pay my respects at Pearl Harbor and it isn't too far away from the hotel.

All I have to do now is fill out the paperwork and fax it back to the prize coordinator and then I will receive more information on how to redeem the prize.

I had got into a rut about entering my sweepstakes since my wins were few and far between-this win has taken care of that! I never think of it as luck that I win anything, its just persistence, patience and entering a sweepstakes at the right time.

I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

Hawaii here I come!!!

I just got an email from the Blockbuster Great Gift Giveaway Instant win game that I am the potential winner of the grand prize trip from Travelocity!!

I looked up the rules and there are 4 trips on the grand prize list. They are all 5 days in different destinations in Hawaii!

I have to wait for another email with the affidavit of eligibility and I'm not sure when I'll find out which destination I won. I looked them up and they all look amazing. The prizes were: Kauai, Maui, Waikiki, and The Big Island. The hotels all looked very nice! The ARV ranges from $4,300 to $5,000. I can't wait to find out which one I will be going to-I'll have until November of 2008 to take the trip.

I have been entering this every day since November 13th, they send you an email after you enter to let you know if you have won and all the emails I have gotten so far have said sorry-you are not a winner. So tonight when I looked I was shocked to see Congratulations!

I hope everyone is having a great week! :)

SLEEEP

http://www.badlanguage.net/wp-content/asleep.jpg

I haven't been sleeping well, last night I tossed and turned and could not sleep. I woke up a few times after having nightmares and after my alarm went off I hit snooze. Then I didn't hear it go off again and was 15 minutes late to work.

It was like that the night before too. I'm so tired now everything is blurry-I hope I can sleep tonight. I was tired when I went to bed last night but just lie there waiting and waiting.

Everything else is going ok, we got our outside Christmas lights up and later this week we will tackle the inside.

I hope everyone is having a great week :)

Time elapsed video of Arctic ice sheet melting

Here's new NASA satellite video showing the astounding loss of Arctic sea ice.

From NASA: The 2007 Arctic summer sea ice has reached the lowest extent of perennial ice cover on record - nearly 25% less than the previous low set in 2005.

The area of the perennial ice has been steadily decreasing since the satellite record began in 1979, at a rate of about 10% per decade. But the 2007 minimum, reached on September 14, is far below the previous record made in 2005 and is about 38% lower than the climatological average. Such a dramatic loss has implications for ecology, climate and industry.

Sea ice is frozen seawater floating on the surface of the ocean. Some sea ice is semi-permanent, persisting from year to year, and some is seasonal, melting and refreezing from season to season. The sea ice cover reaches its minimum extent at the end of each summer and the remaining ice is called the perennial ice cover.

Bad few weeks

Actually a bad few weeks, Rick is having to have some tests done to see what is wrong with his stomach, our fridge went out and last night the washer went out! It's been a stressful few weeks, but still haven't let it get to me-almost!

I found this funny video-poor woman!

Another Birthday...

Sunday was my birthday and I spent the day relaxing and watching movies. I spent Friday thru Tuesday relaxing and doing nothing! It was nice and refreshing.

My friend Ginger came up Saturday after her 5 mile Heart Walk and spent the day with me and didn't leave til Sunday. It was a nice visit since we hadn't seen each other in a long time.

Tuesday it was back to work and we have a few events coming up this week and next so I have been busy.

I hope everyone is having a great week :)

Monday, September 17, 2007

It was nice today-it rained later on in the afternoon and we are supposed to have some rain tomorrow as well.

Last week my 13 year old dachshund Randy started acting odd. I noticed his lower jaw started swelling. I took him to the vet the next day and they told me that since he is older his jaw has started deteriorating and was broken. They had to pull his remaining 3 teeth.

Yesterday and today he has pepped back up and is acting like his old self. He is on antibiotics and a mild pain pill. We have to start feeding him soft food, but he snuck some of the other dog's hard food earlier.

He has been really picky and wont eat any of the soft canned food I have tried. The vet gave us some recipe that has hamburger meat, rice, yogurt and a vitamin in it. I made some of it earlier for him and he at it like it was going out of style.

Then he acted like he was a puppy again- I hadn't seen him that peppy in months. Probably from being happy about the food since he hasn't liked anything I have put down in front of him in months.

Work has been going good, but busy.

The fair is here and of course it is rainy this week! I have to go and eat my yearly cheese on a stick and corndog!

I hope everyone is having a great week :)

Circa 1920

I found this on Shorpy earlier: "Mack Sennett girls in costume" circa 1920. Sennett, an early producer of silent films, was known as the King of Comedy for his slapstick reels.

Sometimes I find some odd pictures...

and today I found these and thought I share! I hope everyone is having a good weekend and have a good Memorial day :)

Lots of rain

We missed the leftover remnants of the tropical storm that came through in parts of Texas and Oklahoma. I was happy to learn that my friends were safe! We got a little bit of rain on Saturday and nothing else. It was 103 today and more humid than I ever remember it being here-stifling comes to mind.

I didn't want to go in this morning because I was still sleepy and want to crawl back in bed! I read my page a day calendar that is kinda zen based and todays quote was "You can blow to put out a fire and you can blow to start a fire".

I really liked that quote and it got me to thinking so I resigned myself to just do my work and realize how lucky I am to have a good job that I don't dread going to! Work went by fast and I actually enjoyed it.

I hope everyone's week started out great and only gets better :)

What a sales pitch-I'll take two!

Heart attack victim saved by sales pitch

AN elderly New Zealand man who suffered a heart attack at a hardware store was revived by a salesman who just happened to be demonstrating a defibrillator to store staff.

The man, who was in his 80s, collapsed in an aisle of the Placemakers store in Albany, near Auckland, and his heart was not beating when salesman Gavin MacDonell attached the machine to his chest.

It was the ultimate sales pitch demonstration for Mr MacDonell, who has been a St John Ambulance volunteer paramedic for 20 years.

"Once we got a shock into him he started to gag, and we thought 'this bloke's coming back'," he told the New Zealand Herald newspaper.

"The people in the shop that were working there were just blown away."

The victim was expected to recover, the paper said.

I love this picture!

For some reason this picture struck me-I visit this site called Shorpy-The 100-Year-Old Photo Blog and this was a picture posted the other day. Makes me want to go do something fun! The caption says:

"The license plate is almost as large as her automobile, but Miss Mary Bay likes her car because it is easy to park. Miss Bay is shown braving the traffic of Washington." January 29, 1924.

Life

Not much has been going on, nothing to write about anyway.

Work has been busy and productive. Our weather has been in the upper 90's and low 100's, but today around 5 PM it started clouding up and has been raining on and off since then. It has been nice.

Football season started it seems, ugg. I am not a football fan and Rick is on cloud 9 watching it right now while I would rather catch a rerun of Friends that I have seen at least 8 times!

The porch birds have grown up and are flying around, they still return to the nest to sleep at night. It's comical to see 5 grown birds that are bigger than the parents crammed into the one nest! The parents roost on a couple of random nails that I never pulled since they seem to like them.

I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

What a week!

My boss was out of town all week and had left me a bunch of stuff to keep me busy. I finished it all by Wednesday at about 2PM! I played on the internet some, visited the people in the offices around me, organized my desk and some file cabinets, twiddled my thumbs a bit and started digging around for things to do! Overall it was a pretty productive week I think.

I have news overload though :( If there wasn't any bad news I don't think there would be any news at all!

I have been having some pretty odd dreams this week. I wake up remembering them and thinking how crazy am I and wonder about myself and by the time I'm stepping into the shower they are gone. Then during the day I remember whisps of them-a feeling, a face or a place in the dream and it is gone again. I had thought about starting a dream diary, just jotting down a few parts of the dream to jog my memory later but with the way I feel about them when I wake up I'm wondering if I should just let them stay forgotten!

There is probably a reason why the memories of dreams are stored in our short term memory!

I'm excited about next week, I'll have more money in my grubby hands than I have had in a loooong time-I'm going shopping! First I'm getting the necessities first-new tires for my car, new eye-glasses, catch up on some bills, a few things around the house that we have been needing for awhile-and then I'm going to splurge a bit and put the rest in savings.

My resident barn swallows have hatched their babies! I see a bunch of cheeping beaks and sparsely feathered heads stick up! I worry about them so much at this stage since they are so vulnerable! It looks like there are 5-6 in that small nest and I worry they are going to fall out. When I came home for lunch today there was about 15 other birds all gathered on the railing of the porch and I was worried they were messing with the babies-I ran up and shooed them off. Here is a picture I took-they let me get so close-within 2-3 feet and pay me no mind!

I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

My new hero...

Can you hear me now??

I entered a sweepstakes online Monday from a radio station out of L.A. They take random entrants and call them to be the people that play in the on-air games for the next day.

I got a call from them about 30 minutes after I entered asking me if I wanted to have a call the next day to play a game on-air. I was so excited and she told me that it would be between 4-5:30.
I was ready to win!

The next day rolls around. 4:00 rolls around and right at 4:05 I get a call and I'm on the air ready to play "Beat the band" and win a prize. We have some fun banter on-air where the host tells me that he is from the city I am in and that we would be right back after a word from our sponsors. So he comes back on the phone while we are waiting, then my cell phone crackles. Can you hear me now???? Then he says get ready, 10 seco......and my freakin' cell phone drops the call :O

I didn't expect a call back, I'm sure they just go down the list to the next caller. I hope they won a good prize! I had to laugh about it, otherwise I'd still be sulking!

I hope that everyone has a great weekend :)

eBay and an IV

Tuesday I went in for a procedure/operation and had my first IV. Actually I had two. I happened to get someone that was new that couldn't get it right the first time. It wasn't too bad. When the good stuff was put in I remember telling the nurse I'm starting to feel something...then the next thing I know I'm waking up talking to Rick and telling the nurses how wonderful they are and shaking the Dr.'s hand thanking him profusely. Then I go in and out again and remember waking up in the car on the way home.

I get home at 10 something and fall asleep until 5:30! Wednesday I needed the hydrocodone and zonked out on it most of the day. I could easily get addicted to these-they make me feel so good! I'll have to flush the rest after I get over the pain!

I have had a pretty good week so far thanks to the happy pills! I sold my first item on eBay and got 3 times the amount I was expecting so that was a nice surprise. Now I am looking around the house for what to sell next while Rick hides stuff! He is not a pack rat per se, but doesn't like to part with things.

I have this huge ornamental mahogany birdcage that sits in our living room gathering dust. I found one identical for sale on eBay for $2500! I am thinking about selling it, maybe not for that much but Rick is putting up a fight. I made a deal that if he will dust it, I wont sell it. It takes forever to dust it as it has lots of small parts and pieces.

I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

Yesterday and today at work went by fast! We had a lot to do, tomorrow looks like it will be the same way.

We had a huge storm earlier and just as it was slowly going away, a HUGE lightning strike hit our transformer. I almost passed out it scared me so bad. We spent about an hour and a half sitting in the dark stuffy house laughing because we had nothing to stare at (meaning the TV) and came to the conclusion that we watch too much TV!

I saw this on my friend Ginger's Blog and thought I would fill it out to jog some fun memories of growing up! There were 40 of them, I'll do the rest tomorrow....

1. Do you prefer Playdough or Silly Puddy? Why?

I like silly puddy-something about the consistency I'm addicted to it. The smell of playdough makes me nauseas

2. Did you ever get sick on a playground merri go round?

I remember getting dizzy and falling down, then getting back on to do it again.

3. Four Square or Kickball?

I never played either growing up, I was a nerd that would read or play quietly by myself usually.

4. Which game caused you the most stress or trauma as a child? Operation, Dodgeball or Duck Duck Goose?

Dodgeball. I was the nerdy kid that all the bullies wanted to throw the ball really hard at. The thought of PE still makes me nauseas.

5. Gilligans Island or The Brady Bunch?

The Brady Bunch-I think I have seen every episode. I loved the Brady's house and would spend hours drawing the blue print on paper and filling in the parts that weren't on screen). I did that with the house on Bewitched too. Gilligan's Island irked me because of Gilligan's stupidity and the fact that everyone put up with it.

6. What was your first music video ever seen on MTV?

I was tuned in to MTV the second it aired and saw "Video Killed the Radio Star".

7. Did you ever pass the dutchie on the left hand side?

If it means what I have read it means, yes.

8. What pop song was played by your band during junior high/high school pep rallies?

Jump by Van Halen

9. Did you ever own a pair of leg warmers, bands of twisty beads or parachute pants?

I still have the first and only pair of parachute pants that I got in 1982. They were black and I thought I looked very stylish and cool in them.

10. How did you solve your Rubik's Cube? The tried and true sticker removal method or the break the damn thing apart with a screwdriver and put it back together method?

I solved it the good old fashioned way, all the puzzle games that came out back then I had a knack of solving. My Mom, Dad, Sister and Brother would see one in the store and buy it, bring it home, mess it up and see how long it took me to solve it. The hardest one was the orb. It took me 2 weeks!

11. What was the first movie you ever saw in a theater?

The First Star Wars, or the fourth one as we know it now!

12. What was the first book you remember reading?

In first grade we had a competition to see who could read the most books in the school year. At the end of the day we would pick one off the shelves, call out the title to the teacher and take it home. The first day of the competition, the teacher called my name and I said " I wan't my Mommy" (the title of the book) and she got a kick out of it and told my Mom when she came and picked me up! I ended up with a certificate for first place for reading 74 books.

13. The first song you remember hearing overplayed on the radio?

Probably something my parents listened to, so it was something country or something by Elvis.

14. Name a singer that looked completely and totally different from what you expected after hearing them only on the radio.

Rick Astley that sang "Never gonna give you up".

15. Can you now, or did you ever, moonwalk?

No.

16. Name one of the first posters you remember having of a heartthrob/babe in your room.

I was with my sister at a music store and used my money to buy a huge poster of Leif Garret for some reason. I didn't even know who he was at the time!

17. Did one or both of your parents have to walk to school....in the winter....uphill - both ways?

My Dad grew up in a rural area without all the modern conveniences but he never complained about them-he always was happy that he could provide us with things he never had growing up so I was really spoiled.

18. Can you recite, verbatim, the opening of the Twisted Sister video "We're Not Gonna Take It"?

I never liked that song, so I didn't ever learn the lyrics.

19. Did you go cuckoo for Coco Puffs?

No, it was Captain Crunch all the way.

20. What lesson do you remember in its entirety thanks to School House Rock?

That a Bill had something to do with the Government

21. Favorite Saturday Night Live skit:

My allll time favorite would have to be anything with Roseanne Rosannadanna AND Jan Hooks and Nora Dunn doing the Sweeney Sisters-they were a hoot.

What a day!

I'm having one of those days that if I let my guard down I will feel sorry for myself. I have been fighting it all day and I'm just not going to do it!

While watching a sad movie earlier I almost gave in to it but fought it back. I won't go into the gruesome details of what's causing the blues and bore you, but hopefully I'll be able to fix it all and take a load off my mind.

I also need sleep, I'm sure that is 90% of the problem. I haven't slept well all week, a little anxious I guess.

I hope everyone is having a great week and a great weekend :)

It's been a long week

...and I am tired!

Work went well this week. I got a few things done around the house. Rick's son Brad is getting married on Saturday so I have to get ready for that. I'm excited for them-they are going to Las Vegas for the honeymoon and neither of them have been before.

Other than the wedding I hope to relax all weekend and catch up on my sleep!

I hope everyone had a great week and has a fun weekend :)

Life

I haven't been up to a lot it seems, but a lot has been going on!

Everytime I turn around this month something unexpected and expensive pops up. I have been getting a lot of yard work done-the flowerbeds are doing great. We even made a new one so we can go buy more pretty plants and fill it up!

Work has been going good.

My Dad had a total knee replacement and is in rehab now-he seems to be recovering quite well.

I go in on July 4th for more "procedures" but so far the doctors have not said anything that is worrying me, nor do they seem too concerned.

I have been hobbling around since yesterday-I was vacuuming with the extension hose on my bookshelves and the vacuum flopped over on top of my bare feet. I saw stars it hurt so bad-that pain that is similar to having your shins hit!

I found this earlier-we will have a new tallest building in the world any day now! I can't wait to see it finished:

Click here to read about it-and this link takes you to more about Dubai and all the fascinating building that is planned and/or in progress.

I have been entering a few contests that have Dubai as one of the destinations-I would love to visit!

I hope everyone is having a great week :)

Great Amnesty International Commercial

I have had a long week with unexpected expensive things popping up! My LCD television bulb went out, my car needs 2 new tires and property taxes-ugh.

Just when I thought I was ahead money wise and BAM the rug is pulled out from underneath me. I'm not really bummed about it, just resigned to it.

My flowerbeds are doing wonderful, when I get more time to sort through them I'll post some pictures I took yesterday. I have to spend some time this weekend on the rental lawn, the person who mowed last didn't do as good of a job as they said they would and with the rain we have had its turning into a jungle over there.

I hope everyone is having a great week :)

And I thought I had a bad day....

Cancer-stricken winner of million-dollar jackpot dies

NAPLES, N.Y. The upstate man who hit a million-dollar state lottery jackpot a month after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer has died.

Friends of 50-year-old Wayne Schenk tell the Canandaigua Daily Messenger that he died last evening at a Syracuse hospital.Schenk's story drew national attention after he won a million dollars on a five-dollar lottery scratch-off ticket in January. A month earlier, doctors told the tavern owner from Ontario County that he had only months to live because of lung cancer. The lottery winnings were to be paid out in 20 annual installments of 50-thousand dollars each.

Schenk tried unsuccessfully to get lottery officials to boost the payouts. When he died, he had received just 34-thousand dollars from his jackpot.Earlier this month, Schenk married his longtime girlfriend. Friends say he made sure he could pass on his winnings to her.

I found this while browsing the internet a few days ago. I haven't devoted any time to it as yet, it does sound interesting. I'm a bit skeptical, but hey, I'll try anything once!

How to discover your life purpose in about 20 minutes

Work has been hectic, we have an even Friday and we are ironing out the last minute details as well as doing business as usual. I hit the ground running this morning and about the time I take a breath and look at the clock it's time to go home. I suspect all week will be this way up to the event. The event will be fun and I'm looking forward to it-but I'll be glad when the work leading up to it is over!

I hope everyone had a great Monday :)

For the birds

The barn swallows are back! This will be the 5th year, although last year they built their little mud nests and some other bird knocked their eggs out and attacked them when they came near. This year if that happens I might be tempted to get a slingshot-I'm partial to these little fellows! I'm sure it's not the SAME couple but maybe it's the young coming back each year to a place they know.

The first year they were really skittish and would fly away every time we walked out onto the porch-then they got used to us and every year since they go about their business as if we aren't there.

I doubt I would go as far as to get a slingshot and kill the squatter birds, but I just hope we don't have to find out!

I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

Food O

Rick bought some of this extreme dark chocolate earlier while we were fighting the crowds at wally world and couldn't wait until we got into the car to rip one open and eat it. He ripped one open and ate it-I thought he was going to pass out, he was moaning like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally!

I like chocolate, but I'm not a choco-holic. I tried a bite and it just didn't do it for me. I have been trying to think of what food has this effect on me since then and I can't think of any food I like THAT much.

Our weather this weekend was wacky. We had a huge storm Friday night with 95mph winds that knocked down huge trees North of town, ripped roofs off of buildings and blew car windows out. Then Saturday it snowed all day. Sunday it was windy and cooler and then today it was nice and springlike! Tomorrow it is supposed to storm again.

I finally got my taxes done and was pleasantly surprised I got money back! I suspected I would have to pay in and put it off until the last minute.

I hope everyone is having a great week :)

I Dance Like Elaine

Luckily I only dance when I get drunk :O

I had a pretty good day at work, it went by fast and I got a lot done. We have a few special events coming up that mixed in with the regular events will keep us busy this month.

I need to get more organized-I've been working on that this week. I got tired of missing pieces of paper, items to include in various fliers etc. I'm afraid to throw anything away because I keep throwing things out and then needing them a few days later!

I hope everyone had a great Monday :)

Snow??

I had a few moments of feeling wound up too tight again today, but overall it was a good day. I got a lot done at work and nothing at home!

I need to do some spring cleaning around here but I'll have to wait until the urge hits. I'm doing good to get the laundry and dishes done.

Most of my flowerbed plants are coming up nicely, there are a few that still look like twigs but I haven't given up hope yet. This weekend we are supposed to have lower 30 degree weather with the possibility of
snow :O Let's hope it is just thunderstorms.

We had the puppy spayed today, she is not too happy with anyone right now. She is getting around ok, but the pain killers are knocking her out most of the time. The other dogs want to go see what is going on with her, but she snaps at them to get away, but I think she feels safe in her pet porter.

Randy got out of the fence today-and he is a runner. It couldn't have been more than 2 minutes but he was halfway down the alley. He was just sniffing around as if nothing was wrong-saw me and wagged his tail.

It reminded me of the first time Rudy got out. He was probably 2 at the time. I looked everywhere for about 30 minutes all around my neighborhood. Then I got in the car and drove even further, down alleys, everywhere I could think of for another 30 minutes.

Finally I decided to leave my residential area and cross a major street into another residential area across from us. I drove one block and there he was just sitting on a corner under a stop sign as if nothing was wrong. I opened the car door and he hopped in and we drove home.
He was covered in road tar, smelled like garbage and happy as could be.

God, if I think about him too much it still hurts my heart. I miss him so much. He was such a good dog and went through so much with such a great attitude.

I need to take a note from Rudy's book :)

Is it Friday yet?

Aha

For the past few work days I slept through my alarm. I usually don't do that-I've been know to turn it off and go back to sleep, but not sleep through it. I had it on a radio channel that I listen to at work and today I noticed that several times during the day it would just go to dead air. I'm thinking that is what is going on, so I've changed the channel-hopefully that will help

I'm getting nervous about next week. I have a doctors appointment that is pretty sure to lead to surgery-day surgery most likely, but surgery just the same. I've never had any kind of surgery before.

My medical experiences are summed up by an overnight stay when I was 4, stitches three times and normal doctor visits. Never anything that involved anesthesia. I have 7 days left to dread it.

I haven't read anything all the way through in months besides flipping through magazines. I miss it but I just haven't had the urge.

Regarding my mention of a rut yesterday-this was on my page a day calendar when I got to work today:

"It doesn't matter how slow you go, as long as you don't stop!"

Here is to having a great tomorrow :)

I love a good parody

I do like Fergie, don't get me wrong, but Alanis Morissette makes a great statement about the lyrics of this song-some not safe for work

This video by Pink takes the cake on parodies-also with some not safe for work lyrics:

Not much has been going on lately-I have been mentally, physically and spiritually tired. I have been trying to figure out which to take care of first and how to do it. The rut deepens.

Randy is back to normal. He woke up one day after being out of it for 3 days on pain killers and was back to his old self. I'm so thankful this hasn't resulted in second trip to the vet.

I hope everyone is having a great week :)

Non-Stop

Today at work was non-stop-go go go. My desk looks horrible, I have notes everywhere, and stacks of papers waiting on other papers to go with them before I can finish. I have a huge mail out to do tomorrow so I have stacks of envelopes, letters and certified stickers to fill out. My to do list seems to be growing at night.

I love it! This job is great!

Randy is on his pain pills and they seem to be working. The side effects are lethargy, lack of appetite and diarrhea. I'd rather deal with that than hear his pitiful whining and crying when he hurts. Poor guy, I hope he feels better soon.

We had a huge thunderstorm today. It rained and hailed so hard on my way back from lunch I had to pull over because I couldn't see. It rained for quite some time. It's supposed to again tomorrow. I love this weather but it makes me want to take a nap.

I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

Hopeful

Before I split up with my ex, we had a very close friend. My ex and her had a falling out and I got caught in the crossfire-losing her as a friend as well. I never could get the whole story out of either of them of what happened, but it was pretty bad and looking back, I handled it poorly.

When I split up with him, I tried to make contact with her and start over but it didn't work-she would be nice enough, just not want to get close. It kinda became a running joke-whenever I would see her I'd say "let's have a drink sometime-call me!" Both of us have easy to remember phone numbers so we'd laugh and say I remember your number. I gave up calling and she never did.

So over the past 7 years I haven't seen her too much, until recently. The building I work in has an association that she is a member of and they have a meeting there once a week. She came to my office a few times to say hi.

Then out of the blue she pops in today and said "lets get a drink tomorrow!" Who knows if she will follow through with it, but it's a nice thought and I'm hopeful.

Today drug by and I was so tired. Last night Randy woke up yelping, whining and shaking about 1:30am. It was too early to give him his medicine so I put him in his bed and hugged on him and tried to calm him down. I finally got him to sleep around 3:00am and got up at 7:00am and boy did I feel it all day. It was worth it, I wouldn't have been able to sleep anyway knowing he was miserable.

This morning he was stiff and wimpering and the vet gave us some pain pills for him. It seems to be working-he is dozing now and 20 minutes after I gave him the pain pill he loosened up and you could tell he was relaxed.

I won't need a pill to sleep tonight! I hope everyone had a great humpday :)

Spring

Everything in the yard is coming up. It is nice to see things I planted last year popping up, still waiting on others-keeping my fingers crossed.

Even though it means extra work in the yard, I love this time of year when everything is just on the verge, budding out but not all the way yet. The grass still brown, but with hints of green-even the dandelions I try to get rid of every year.

I have several bradford pears and I love it when they are in bloom.

I had to take my Dachshund, Randy, to the vet yesterday. He got excited and jumped off the bed a few days before (he is 13). Later on he would squeal whenever he walked around. I thought it was his leg or shoulder but it turned out to be his neck.

After horrible flashbacks to my other Dachshund, Rudy, paralyzed from the waist down after his jump from the couch, she finally said he would most likely be okay with some anti-inflammatory medication. He has only jumped off the bed once before in his whole life, but I'm not going to allow him up there anymore-also going to keep him off of the couch just in case.

Rudy (God I still miss him) had shown signs of back trouble when he was young, Randy and Petey luckily haven't. Petey is still young at 3, I try to keep Petey from activities that would cause back trouble like tug o war and jumping up.

I hope everyone is having a great week :)

Rainy Weekend

It started raining late last night and has been overcast all day, drizzly. I like it until I have to let the muddy pawed dogs in!

This week will be busy at work, and my boss in out of town.

I got my $200 ticketmaster gift card in that I won-I'm going to save it until our next Las Vegas trip for a good concert or show.

Not much else is going on, going to have to juggle a couple of bills this week and hope that nothing gets cut off! I hope everyone has a great monday :)

I accidentally fixed it!

I finally decided to dust off the laptop in the corner and give it a go again to try to get on the internet wirelessly. I had doubts. I tried a few settings, called tech support again for 3 different products but nothing.

Finally I decided I would try to work on the notion that it was spyware or the like. I went to the remove program area in windows and just started uninstalling everything after I looked on google and found out what it was.

I finally uninstalled a program called NewDotNet and voila, my internet popped up and said connected. I was leary at first and hopeful.

I crossed my fingers and opened up firefox. I have never been so happy to see the google start page!

I'm continuing the removal of a bunch of junk on this computer such as kazaa, etc.-wish me luck!

I got my $200 gift card to Ticketmaster in the mail today, that was exciting. My wins have been sparse.

I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

Laptop Hell

The good news is that I bought a nice laptop for $100. I spent more on the router, adapter and wireless mouse that I did the laptop!

The bad news is that I cannot get it to connect to the internet with my wireless router. It has been a week now and I have tried everything that I know to do.

Including a few hours on live chat and phone support that went in circles and did nothing.

I finally put it in the corner until I can figure something else out. I had to. I was getting dangerously close to climbing on the roof just so I could hurl it onto the patio.

Work is going good-we have been very busy. We have quite a few events coming up and I have been getting prepared for those.

Our weather has been nice, springlike but windy.

(glaring at laptop in the corner) I hope everyone has had a nice week

Snickergate-I just don't get it

Personally, I thought the spots were funny and didn't get offended-but Janet's nipple and Prince's guitar penis didn't rile me up either.

Here are the commercials:

Snickers-Chest Hair

Snickers-Love Boat

Snickers-drink

Snickers-wrench

What will everyone get riled up about when the Superbowl goes pay-per-view???

Today was really foggy-exorcist foggy and cold-this after my spirits lifted from a nice sunny 70 degree remind me of spring day. A kind of day that even getting stabbed in the back by someone I never suspected it from didn't get me down.

I hope everyone is having a great week.

Recovering from the blues

I think all of the snow, cold weather and today-a full moon have sunk me into a light depression.

I haven't wanted to do anything but sleep.

Everything is going good though. I just don't wanna.

Hopefully the sun will come out soon.

I hope everyone had a great week, and has a great weekend :)

Borat????

I found this movie online and watched it tonight. I will say that I had no idea what to expect and I had an idea that I wouldn't like it.

I could not quit laughing. I really enjoyed it, and normally this would not be my kind of movie.

I watched The Illusionist earlier tonight and really like it-one of the best movies I have seen in awhile. An American Haunting-not so much.

Nacho Libre had a few funny scenes but overall I didn't care for it.

The Descent was gory and scary but I liked it-the gore was extra gory and the scare factor was amped up because I felt the claustrophobia!

I hope everyone is having a great week :)

A neat product

I found one of these today at Bed Bath and Beyond. I had several knife sets with mismatched blocks and the way this works is amazing! It features moveable "fibers" inside that are fully adjustable and holds any type of knife in any position - no slots required.

It's pretty good sized and held all three of my knife sets in one place! I love finding things like this!

I hope everyone had a great weekend :)
